Leo Seidl – German author
Born in Munich in 1976, Leonhard "Leo" Seidl is an author, nature writer, journalist, organiser, and teacher of creative writing. He chairs the Middle Franconia Writers' Association and is a member of PEN.
His works include based-on-true-events crime thriller Fronten, ('Fronts'), Nautilus 2017, and picaresque novel Der falsche Schah ('The Fake Shah'), Volk Verlag 2020. 2022 saw the appearance of crime thriller Vom Untergang ('About the Fall') in Edition Nautilus, with a new edition of his debut novel, Mutterkorn ('Ergot'), Kulturmaschinen Verlag 2022, also being released last year, while this year saw the publication of travel guide 111 Orte in der Frankenhöhe, die man gesehen haben muss ('111 Places in the Franconian Heights That You Shouldn't Miss'), Emons Verlag 2023. This year will also see the publication of Literatur und ökologische Praxis ('Literature and Ecological Praxis') by Verbrecher Verlag, conference proceedings co-edited and contributed to by Leo.
He has received numerous prizes and grants, including a Stiftung Literatur grant in 2019, the Hermann-Kesten-Stipendium in 2021, and the City of Fürth Culture Prize in 2022.
